Yes, 6X4 is the same as 6X4WA.Best? I suppose that's a matter of opinion.
D-getter Tungsols are my favorite by far. 1950's D-getter Raytheons are also excellent.
Mullard D-getter and Philips Miniwatt D-getter are the best of the Euros, sweet tubes, and 1950's Brimar black glass are also very good.
The Genelex U707 is a fine tube, but for the price, it's not worth it, as the tubes mentioned above are equal or better. GEC U78 is also good, again though, a common Tungsol is better.

Thanks again,
OK, on this one I'm not so sure from the information you gave. It's not at all uncommon for Amperex to be rebranding Mullard GZ34's, after all, they were both part of the same company.
The orange globe logo and the 3-50 indicates that they are 1970's vintage, probably imported by Amperex USA by the date which is likely December 1973.
When Mullard, or Amperex USA for that matter, printed their logos onto the tubes it is very common for it to be partly or completely printed on top of the etched date codes, obscuring those codes - which are the real determining factor in whether the tubes are genuine, meaning - produced by a Philips family factory.
There should be a 3 digit etched code with another 3 digit code below it. Perhaps it is all there, but partly printed over. The first line should start with an f type symbol. The last digit, a 2 you say, indicates 2nd revision - which is odd for the physical characteristics you describe. The second line will begin with a B if it is Mullard production.
At any rate, the single O-getter is quite late production, a tube I'm not overly familiar with as I find later GZ34's good, but nowhere near the early versions - particularly the metal base. That doesn't mean the later ones are bad, quite the opposite - they are far better than any US made GZ34 or any current makes. But if you have the early ones, they are generally prefered.
Check those etched codes very closely, under a magnifying glass. My guess is you will see two rows of 3 digits each, it is likely you have later UK made GZ34's.
I am sure it will be more money, but it may be worth it in the long run. I had also ordered RCA Black Plate 6L6GC's and I got Sylvania's so I am definitely sending them back.Aloha,
