I have a Pas 3 hooked up to my ST 70(Van Alistine full mod). When I turn the volume over half. The right speaker gets real bright and the volume goes up on the right side.Anyone know what could cause this? aybe time to upgrade the pre too?

Follow Ups:
My pas 3 has the stock volume control and it too past the mid position tends to make the left channel stronger with of course the
image shifting to the left. I have a new control on the way, it also is a used 250k from a pas.I'll see if it is any better than the one I have.
I've tried a blue alps and literally have given up on it due to the snaps/pops every time I turn it from zero volume up.
I have posted this problem but no one including Joe Curcio which sent me numerious emails trying to help me also could not figure out what was causing this snapping.Again Thanks Joe for your help.
Good Luck....
Try Joe Curcios-www.curcioaudio.com- PAS board mods-the best available IMO. I just installed the PC-5 and you wouldn't believe it was sound coming from an PAS preamp. What I did was get two PASs, keeping one stock (the broken one) and mod one with Curcio's upgrades. If you want some more info email me.

Thanks for all of your help, you guys. I knew it was time for an upgrade, but was putting it off.
Thanks again.

at about that position of the volume control you have passed the "loudness" tap on the pot. Is your loudness switch on? You may have a bad part in the loudness circut or the volume pot may be bad/ dirty.
I wouldn't want to hazard a guess as to the cause of your problem, but if your PAS is stock, by all means upgrade it. IMHO, you are short-changing your very nice ST70.
