I'm looking for someone to refurb an old pilot 232
Follow Ups:
I appreciate the info!
I just had my Pilot 232 completely rebuilt with auricaps and carbon film resistors by Vintage Amplifier Restoration in Hattiesburg Ms., the guys name is William Hardy. He did a great job on my little Pilot, and he is fast at getting it back to you. You will not believe the sound this amp can put out, it is a very very musical amp. You can reach him at ( vintageamps@hotmail.com ). I'am sure he will price you with any caps and resistors you wish him to use, but I sure like the way my Pilot 232 sounds with the ones I picked.
I live outside Flint Michigan. I rework tons of Scott/Heathkits and others intergrates mostly for guy's on the Klipsch Speaker forum you can ask or read over there about me. I'm sure I could fix your pilot up for you if you can't find anyone else. Do you have a copy of the Schematic for the Amp. Email me if you need me at NOS440@comcast.net
I'm in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area. Depends on what you want done, and how much of a hurry you're in (a lot on my plate at the moment).
Feel free to email!
Try Bizzy Bee in Naperville, Illinois. Do a search. Honest, good work and fair prices. Paul is doing my Fisher SA 100.
Where in Michigan are you looking?
Sorry-- Greg is too busy and Andy doesn't modify this type of gear. I'm rebuilding my Dyna MKIIIs with all Solens in the DC supply, a hexfred for bias, and replacing the orange drops that came with the Triode Elec input board; kinda full plate. Chris
I know two guys in West Michigan-- Andy Bouwman sometimes does mods, and my friend Greg will sometimes... he's kinda busy right now, though. I am going to make the trip downstate soon and can ask-- first, though; what is a Pilot 232? If it is an integrated amp with the preamp and power section combined, they won't be interested. If they are monoblocks or a stereo power amp, what do you want done? (e.g. coupling caps, power caps, resistors, bias circuit etc.) What is your price point? A complete retrofit of the above mentioned items, done neatly with good parts is a 4-6 hour job at $55 per hour-- if you source the parts. If they source the parts, add $100 plus $150-$400 for parts depending on how far you want to take it. Round trip shipping etc-- $50-$75. Total $600-$700 or so. It would have to be quite the amp or it won't be worth it. I am way busy or I could do it cheaper and nearly as well; if you want me to contact Greg post to that effect. Chris
