My interest in tubes stems from a short listen to the Rogue Audio Magnum 120 Monoblocks. They presented a great sense of space and musical flow. Since I crossed my main speakers (87dBw ACI Jags) over at 85Hz, I don't know if I need as much power as they produce. It also peaked my interest into what other tube products might be out there.I am looking for an amp that has enough "tube" quality to make music seem liquid and involving, without making things so mushy that the detail is lost. Sorry for such a lame wish but any direction something that is pretty close would be appreciated. My budget is about $3,000.

I highly recommend you take a listen to the Conrad Johnson MV-60 ($2495), very sweet stereo amp.
Your requirements sound exactly like the description I would give to my Antique Sound Labs KMP60FOX's. 60 watt mono blocs. Tube magic without the "traditional" tube artifacts. Muscular good looks. They drive my 84 db Magnepans (12's) just fine. If you want to know more about them, send me an email.

Cary V12i is a great, great amp that isn't mushy at all. It also shines in the "looks" department. I auditioned it vs the Rogues, and the Cary was superior imho of course. In fact, I may have to go another way due to new room limitations of my new apartment, so email me if you are interested.
Other amps to listen to:
BAT VK75
CJ Premier 11 (if you can find one)
Audio Research VT100
VAC 30/30
VTL 250s(model #?)
This is a great sounding unit. It produces 30 watts/ch in triode and 60 watts/ch ultralinear. It can be monoblocked for double the power. Feartures a Class A push pull design that can handle impedances down to 1/2 an ohm. I use one to drive my Apogee Duetta Signatures. See the link below for pictures and information.
Does your $3000 budget includes both preamp and power amp or just power amp alone??
