I'm considering the purchase of either the ASL 1003DT or the 1001DT. It seems the main difference is the 1003 runs in Triode (Class A) and the 1001DT runs in Pentode (Ultra Linear).Several messages I've read indicate either of these amps can be run in the other mode. Is this true? If this were correct the 1003DT would be 30watts Triode and 60watts Pentode? and the 1001DT would be 50 watts Pentode and 25 watts Triode? This would make the 1003 a much better value IMO. What other features does the 1001DT have to make it more expensive?
Also, if this dual mode is possible, could you switch between the two modes with a simple toggle switch?

I have about 6 months on the AQ-1003DT. Very pleased with it. I use it to drive many different loads and it hasn't disappointed. There are better tube amps to be sure, but for the price it's easily the best I have found.
no ! AQ1003 work in Ultra linear mode not Triode class A mode.AQ1001 DT has upgrade to triode/Pentode switchable now.
It use bigger power transformers , better power cap. (Nippon Chemicon). 4,8 , 16 Ohm tap....
That sounds great!! I've been looking for an amp with a simple switch between the pentode and triode. I have a couple more questions.1. How much is the Pentode/Triode switch option?
2. Is Pentode the same as Ultralinear in this amp?
3. What other upgrades can be ordered with this amp?
1. How much is the Pentode/Triode switch option?

2. Is Pentode the same as Ultralinear in this amp?

3. What other upgrades can be ordered with this amp?

Mr. Lau,I forgot to ask.
1. You said the 1001DT comes with 4,8, and 16 ohm taps. The website only says 8 and 16 only. Which is correct?
2. The 1003DT says it can drive difficult loads. Does the 1001DT have the same ability to drive difficult loads?

It is 4,8,16 Ohm2. The 1003DT says it can drive difficult loads. Does the 1001DT have the same ability to drive difficult loads?
Yes ! It is in same design but difference tube only.
