In Reply to: AES AE-25 SuperAmp vs ASL 1003DT vs ASL 1001DT posted by watchdoc on August 12, 2002 at 15:14:55:
I built the AES AE-25 (pre super amp with EL34's) and it is great. Top notch components and fine transformers that (I think) they wind themselves using a bi-filer process. Can't go wrong with the super amp which is what I should have got since you can roll various tubes , and I think it is single ended. Build it yourself, its a very rewarding (and mind absorbing) experience. I have my AE 25 hooked up to my computer and it's perfect for my office. Nice looking too. I cannot vouch for the other amp you mentioned. Have fun above all.

That's right - I meant to say no negative feedback.
I'm not exactly sure what those mean or why I would want them. It sounds like I've got some good votes for the AES. It is truely a beautiful amplifier and the reviews are excellent.I'm hoping to hear from some ASL owners and maybe some people who have auditioned both. I also noticed that ASL has a 5 year warranty. I'm not sure how often amps like these fail but that is worth some peace of mind.
