Im looking to replace the stock Chinese tubes in the AE-3. I would like to find a tube that has good tight bass, a high end that is effortless and a midrange that you cant live without. All of this at a reasonable price. What types should I look for?
Follow Ups:
I built an AE-3 pre-amp and rolled a few tubes this past year. The best that I have found are the RCA Red Base 5692's. They should be around $100-$130 for the pair.
My second choice is the Sylvania 6SN7 GTB Chrome Domes. Much cheaper - I have found some deals on e-bay.
I have not tried them all - these are just my personal favorites.
Cut-Throat
.
the AES AE-3 use a 6SN7 tube
