If I wanted to upgrade teh 3 legged cap, what do I replace it with (I believe they dont make those anymore).

I have heard that increasing the capacitance is useful, the .02 uF is marginal in this application. Radio Shack sells 1 to 2 kV single ceramic disc caps, like the previous post said, just tie two of them together, try .05 uF, it is only pasing AC so shouldn't hurt to go significantly larger, maybe a .1 uF film/foil like the SBE orange drops, polypropylene dielectric of course, maybe a polystyrene RelCap of some suitably affordable size...

PS, FP trans came in today, loading and adjusting RC filter's R to get proper voltage, Go withe 369AX, it has CT filament and looks better than the industrial look that the 261 has...I'll be in the shed for a while on the Bridgeport cutting holes in the top plate for a bit. Can't wait to hear it sing.
From memory I think its a 0.02uf twin cap. Just use 2 ceramic caps wired the same with one leg common to both. Ceramic caps don't usually go bad, very tough stuff.
