I was checking out my tube stash tonight and came across a pair of very nice looking Brimar 6060 tubes. This is supposed to be a 12AT7 tube type, but must be rather rare as I hardly ever see this designation for sale on tube sites/ Ebay etc.Does anyone know anything about the 6060 designation or about the Brimar pair in specific that I have? - Thanks for comments!

C-T,These are premium versions of the 12AT7. You probably guessed by all the postings on 12AU7 and 12AT7 types that the satisfaction of the user is strongly dependent on the application, voltage and feedback parameters, and the owner's taste in tone.
My peachy-keeno tube is another's junk. Which means you are probably going to have to try the 6060 and form your own opinion.
A lot has to do with the components attached to the tube (caps and resistors) and the plate voltages and bias. I know that some tubes need a bit of circuit tweaking to shine. Placed into the wrong enviroment---most any tube can be made to sound lousy.
You'll see my posts on the 6060 unashamedly plastered all over the place. Hold on to them.
