I just bought a Fisher sa 16 stereo tube amp and wondered if anyone has ever heard one, and what if any sonic personality it has.
I am looking for a real tubey sounding amp with perhaps a little roll off of highs, and the lush tube mids.
Bass dont matter, bi amping.
Does the SA 16 have the old lush sound???

Hey Cris, You being a good boy? Just checkin, anyway, most of that mid to late 60's stuff like the Fishers,Scott, even a choice Marantz model 8 or 9, tend to be rolled on both ends. And tubey sounding? maybe too much so, and also a lack of speed, it's not too too bad, but not up to todays standards, especially if you a resolving front end and speakers. It really is cool stuff though, and if that old shit could talk huh?? latter Paulie
Blessed be Paulie, I'm a being as good as I can!
I NEED a tubey sounding amp!]
I have VMPS RM 40's coming ribbons mids and tweeters, and need thick tube sound to fill em out!
I am bi amping them, so they are getting big transistor amp on bottom.
I have an Audire Parlando 85 lb Pure Class A amp, and the Fisher is just in case it dont work.
I didnt pay a whole lot for fisher, and If I dont need it, I will just keep it for a rainy day.
VMPS uses Conrad Jonson tube amps as well as Plinus and Ampzilla 2000 amps.
I just missed a Conrad MV 45.
The old conrads had that tubey sound I seek, and so did the old Harman Kardon Citation I had.
I had a MV-55 for a short time, and i must say it was(for the price point) one of the best EL34 amps around, killer midrange! just what your lookin for. Ampzilla, wow, havn't heard that name in a while, new group bought the name? or is it the same crew? Your speakers ARE resolving, so they might not be such a good match, for the Fisher, but ya never know. You know Cris, latter bro, BB..Paulie
