What would be a good (used) price for these? Would they work well with Eminent Technology LFT-8, planar-magnetic speakers? What about Vandersteens? I am considering a purchase of these but do not have a great deal of knowledge on this model. Would appreciate any insights. These have the KT90 tubes from EI (Yugoslavia). Thanks...
Follow Ups:
I have owned one of the original pairs of VTL Deluxe 225s and I really have never heard anything quite like them since. I also have a pair of Magnepan MGIII-R and the 225s are a perfect match for them! Nothing sounds better driving any type of planar, hybrid, or electrostatic. One thing to keep in mind though is that EI who made the KT90s in Yugoslovia had its tube plant blown up in the recent wars over there - no kidding. Send me email if you want to hear more about these. I have auditioned them against all kinds of solid state and tube gear.

Before you get too excited over those VTLs, just do a little more research on this forum by searching for keywords "rosen" and "manley" and "vtl". This guy called Joe Rosen does not have complimentary things to say about VTL products in general and its designer David Manley. He does not just berate them senselessly though, makes good argument to back them up.Whether you agree with his views or not, I'd just thought you might want to know them before making the purchase.
They are pretty decent with KT90s; expect to pay 2k-3k depending on condition. They have a great power transformer, but the opt. transformer on a 40 watt Harman Kardon Citation V has more iron and better interleaving... really! They have enough power for any speaker, but I'd look elsewhere in this price range. They can make 225 watts at 1000 cycles, but below 30 cycles or above 18000 cycles they are 3db down from spec, and fall apart rapidly beyond that. I had a pair of VTL 100s; they were exactly on par with a pair of Dyna MKIIIs. Chris
