as I need to conduct testing/measurements, I need to turn over the top of the chassis so I can get access to the pins/circuit. on top of the chassis are 2 tubes: 5AS4 and EL34. I have looked at the RCA 5AS4 datasheet and it says I can mount it upside down.I've looked at Philip's and Mullard's datasheet for EL34 and I cannot find any mounting info.
any ideas?
Follow Ups:
I believe that 180º degree belly-up is OK. It's when you put a tube amd on it's side and the tubes horizontal or some other angle other than symmetrically vertical. So it's fine to put an amp 'belly-up', just make sure that the amp is completely flat upside down.
Some rectifier tubes and other power tubes will tell you which pins should align vertically if you decide to operate a tube horizontally, such as early tube amps, Stromberg AR-411, etc.
Consult your friendly tube manual for the details, good to have several different one's.
Remember that in an upside down tube, the electrons flow from the plate to the cathode.

Lots of guitar amps use this tube and I think most of them are mounted upside down.
