I've just recieved intel that the name Telefunken has been aquired and that there will be Telefunken tubes available on the market again.Of course not "real" Telefunken, but branden tubes.
Does anyone know who bought the rights for this brand?

Dont know if I would wear this to work tho....

Looks like the real deal, huh? They even use their logo and everything -- and then, at the bottom of the page, is the small print:
Telefunken | USA™, located in the state of Connecticut, USA, is in no way related or affiliated with the original Telefunken Company of Germany. All products manufactured by Telefunken | USA™ are intended for sale in North America. They bought the rights to the name in the U.S. and now hawk mostly microphones under a venerable brand name, complete with logos and a "history" section on the Web site about the history of Telefunken, giving the impression that they're the direct descendents of the German giants. It's a shame. At least they're not in the vacuum tube business: can you imagine how many current-production Telefunken tubes there would be floating around at absurd prices?
'Telefunken | USA™ develops new VF14K valve for U47, announces ship date of RM-5C Ribbon MicrophoneSouth Windsor, CT, January 2007 – In Berlin, Germany 53 years ago, production of the rare VF14 tube was discontinued. After several years of research, design and prototype development, Telefunken USA is proud to announce that they have completed the first 100 test tubes of the new VF14K. Each tube has exceeded the 10000 hour long test time.
“We knew that without suitable microphone grade tubes, our effort to build the best microphones in the world would come to an end after our small inventory of NOS tubes would be gone, putting our historical replica of the U47 at risk of being discontinued. With that in mind, we began our tube development in late 2003, and after a very difficult start, we produced our first prototype tubes in late 2005. Currently, the VF14K tubes are hand-built in our laboratory, and we will do our best to implement them in our U47 microphone systems later this year. Please stay tuned for more information, pictures will come soon!”"
I would bet that whatever Tony comes up with will be very good. He's working with some of the very best people in the business.

last Fall. They, indeed, have an extensive line up of microphones and many of them had tubes, which are embedded into the mic itself, in many cases. The tubes they were showing were the ones mentioned here.
I do know that one of the mics they carry under the Telefunken name are designed by a well-respected ribbon mic maker here in Santa Cruz. I had a nice chat with him in their booth at AES.
Cheers,
