Hello Jim.
I have some old Ei KT99a labled Gold Aero believe to be a type II
and 1 labled VTL KT90 all look the same so I thought the KT99a is same as KT90.
can you confirm this please .
Thanks

AKAIK the "KT99" designation was just stuck on there by some distributors. If they look the same they are the same in this case. What color was the lettering on the VTL tube? Blue means type II, red means type I.
Hello Jim.
the VTL one is blue print and the other 3 is gold aero print like Gold lion tube.
Thanks
LT
So if the tubes are identical (and look CLOSELY!), then the Gold Aero is a type II. The print on the Gold Aero is irrelevant.
The Gold Aero KT99A is either the second or third generation, depending on how late they are. The first generation was labeled KT99 (no A).The KT90, KT99 and KT99A are all the same, generational changes aside. VTL did not change the part number for the later versions. Gold Aero purchased the KT90 from VLT. As far as I know no other vendors used the KT99 designation. Gold Aero did private label tubes for some of the OEMs such as Sonic Frontiers, Audio Research and MFA. These were also labeled KT99 or KT99A.
The KT90 designation came from VTL. Gold Aero chose to use KT99 because it fit the pattern from M-O Valve, KT66, KT77 and KT88.
