I just bought a KX-100 on Ebay. I read in one post that the Large Advents were a good choice. I'm looking for a pair in the $200 to $300 range. Any suggestions would be much appreciated - Thanks in advance.

On how loud you listen, how close in you listen,
how big your room is.
with valve amps the taps on the back allow you to match to the nominal impedance of the spkrs.
many '8 ohms' jobbies just aren't, being bastard loads for the 8 ohm tap and need a 4 ohm tap.
what you ideally need are spkrs which go loud with just one watt and are also 'efficient'. IE for an '8ohm claim' the load needs to be above 8 ohms except in the high treble. And for a '4 ohm claim' just above 4 everywhere!
It is not unusual for people to prefer the sound off the 4 0hm tap into '8 ohm' nominal spkrs esp. in the bass.
NB the amp you have bought MAY need to be checked over / serviced.
Modifications - to the PSU at least - are possible and WILL improve the sound.

... the Klipsch Cornwalls go quite well with the 400 and 500C IME. The Fishers are a bit mellow and rounded, which does a nice job of smoothing out the Cornies' rough edges. On the other hand, a Marantz 8B just makes Cornwalls sound great. A little cost differential there, though!
