Hi.I have a 12AX7 and 12AU7 with grungy pins and I'd like to clean them up.
Any suggestions?

Works for me and I'm sure I'm getting off all of the residue.
CAIG DEOXIT 5.. I guarantee you if you spray it on your tube sockets down in the pins and on the tubes and pull your tubes in and out a few times,it will be like a 1000 dollar upgrade and Im not kidding..The weakest spot in a tube amp is where the tubes go in the socket because they are not soldered in and with heating and cooling being so prevalent there,it contributes to humidity and oxidation and ultimantely a bad or weak connection on the mechanics of the socket and tube.
If you ever have an amp that had the tubes out of it for a while and you look down in the tube sockets, it looks like a hazy film and the deoxit just disolves that stuff with ease.There is one fall back tho and that is the chemical has a fuel oil type smell for a few days if you get too much on but its no big deal.

No sherlock.That stuff is as safe as a newborn infant..You can spray it after with calilube if you want or standard tuner cleaner.
Hey Micheal,While I also swear by DeOxit and use it to clean tube pins/sockets I then spray them off with an electronics cleaner that doesn't leave any residue - the cheap auto parts store electronics cleaner works as well as the parts house variety. DeOxit is great for controls cuz it leaves a lubricating film. Unfortunately on a tube socket that film can collect conductive dust which then creates a carbon trace. I've never seen this happen where I could specifically trace it to DeOxit but I have with other cleaner/lubes. And of course this is more of a problem with output tubes as the voltages are higher.
Again, I like the stuff but not left on tube sockets/pins.

As the (exceedingly) proud owner of a five-year-old daughter, I have to disagree that infants are in any way safe. Contrary to what "scientists" would have you believe, children do not thrive by consuming food, water, and air. Rather, like carp they simply expand to fill any and all available space. Worse, they increase their vitality by sucking the life out of adults. (This, by the way, neatly explains the aging process, as well as the fact that my friends who opt to live "lifestyles of the rich and childless" are so much less tired at the end of the day.)

Get a small fine wire brush....size of a toothbrush--from a hardware store. Works great. After brushing/scrubbing off any deposits, then spray pins with Deoxit and wipe dry with cotton rag. Presto.Also, if you do a search you will find lots of posts on this.
