6 in the phono pre (Wright WPP200c 2x Mullard 12ax7, 2x RCA clear top 12au7, 1x GEC CV4005 6X4 black plate, 1x RCA 6EM7)
Then again, I just started in tubes about a year ago from an all solid state system.

12 is not that lowly- You'll see number all over the place
on this string. From 2 to a gazillion I bet.And to be fair, the Gallo's probably like the grip of a
good sand amp. You're on your way though :)
Though after reading Dave's post, I'm encouraged.
And I'm driving Gallo Ref 3s, which LOVE tubes.6 in a pair of SET monoblocks (845 output tubes)
4 in a CJ linestage
4 in a phonostage (it started life as an NYAL Moscode SuperIt) and its power supply
7 in a Scott tunerWill there be a prize?
According to the friend who built them for me, they put out 12 watts per channel. But they have enormous authority, no doubt at least partly a result of their humongous Magnequest transformers. Three tubes per monoblock -- 845 outputs, EL-34 drivers, 6N7 inputs (or ECC 31s, which I'm using now) -- and solid state rectification. They drove my former Gallo Ultimates with aplomb and have no difficulty with the Gallo Ref 3s in a listening room that's 18x40' with a large "L" off one of the 40' dimensions. Granted, I'm using the Gallo subwoofer amp to power the second voice coils, but even without it there's no real shortage of bass.
