Follow Ups:
I've just installed a set of KT-88s from Jim into a set of Mac MC75s. They came well-packed and were tested at his place prior to installation and not just on some tube tester. His expertise in developing jigs to test under full load conditions means that I don't have to. There are few places out there that test to this level, IMHO. I really appreciate this extra treatment as I don't need questionable tubes to contend with when completing a restoration.
In addition, he has proven to be an excellent source of knowledge when new tube variants of the KT88/6550 series come out so that I don't have to do the experimentation myself. I'm sure I've avoided a lot of melt-downs as a result.
Cheers,
