I am on my second set of EH 6922's and both sets are noisey, popping and gurgling. I have since replaced them with Jan Philips 6922s, which are fine. I am using the 6922s in a CAT Signature MKII.
Follow Ups:
I just finished building an RTP3 and put a dozen EH 6922s in. I hade a slight whistle from one channel of the phono stage, but swapping a couple of valves sorted the problem.
Yep, I am on my third quad set in the last, oh roughly, 5 years. I just replaced them again in my ARC VT50 about a month ago. Both sets of previous quads lasted less than about 1500 hours each quad. This last quad set I bought from Upscale Audio. Time will tell.
By the way I am still running the same quad set EH6550 tubes that I bought with the first quad of EH6922 tubes. I tested them when I replaced the last set of 6922 tubes. They still tested strong.
One set was good for about 6 months. The second set was noisey out of the box.
The second set was noisy out of the box.
Contact the Dealer you bought them from. He should replace them free of charge. If he does not find another dealer......
I use a pair with my hybrid ARC SP-9 MKIII preamp where they are dead quiet. I have also used the JAN Philips flavor which were a bit bright sounding in my system.Reasons? Perhaps product variability is one cause. On the other hand, it may have to do with system matching.
I meant to say CAT Signature MKIII.
