I haven't yet had a chance to listen to any McIntosh amps, especially tube ones. The store that sells the speakers and Rotel gear I get just picked up McIntosh. I've read that the MC 275 amp has a legendary sound and was listed in the top 10 tube amps of all time. It lists for $3500 which is a big chunk up from the Rogue 90 amp. Here the Rogue 90 lists for $3000 Canadian, and though I don't have a Canadian price yet on the McIntosh- Id suspect its between $4000-5000 dollars here. Has anyone heard both of these amps and can say truly the McIntosh is worth the extra money? I will listen to it when I can- assuming the store will actually bring one in for a demo. They seem to thinks tubes are passe in that store. The tube amp will be running biamped to mids and tweets. Bass will be handled by a solid state amp.

I purchased an mc275 mkiv for less than that at Audio Classics about 18 months ago. I'm a fairly good customer (according to my budget, I'm an outstanding customer, but everything's relative). Considering the mk V just came out, you should be able to get a better price.Their customer service is outstanding.
One thing about mc, I could sell the 275 right now for what I bought it for. I doubt I could have said that about Rougue.
I just got a Canadian price on the MC275. They list it for $4750 Canadian. Im sure they can be negotiated lower on that price. They told me it in US pricing is $4000 list, but everything I've read says $3500. So I wonder if it went up or they are not telling the truth on that.
The retail price of the Mc 275 V IV is $3900.00 US.
Ok. That price sounds close to $4700 Canadian. He did say $4000 though. Im just wondering how much they'd budge on the price to actually sell one. I got 25% off Rotel gear from them buying a demo, so I'd wonder how much unused equipment would go for. I'd hope they'd at least drop $500 from the price. Maybe come to $4000 Canadian.
There is a reason they still make the 275. Go to www.audiokarma.com
and check out the Mac forum.
