This is probably a dumb question but is an 845 tube vacuum sealed. I have one where the metal base is not fully attached to the upper glass. If necessary, can it be re-sealed at the factory? Seems like a waste to discard it.

... it seems to work fine for attaching a loose base to the glass envelope on tubes I've had.

Guess I had that one coming.
It is vacuum sealed, but the base plays no role in the vacuum seal. The seal is strictly accomplished in the glass tube, after which the base (and pins) are applied to the tube.
Thanks for the info, that helps a lot. So does that mean that I can simply refasten the base to the glass with high temp adhesive or epoxy?
