Dave if I bought a 845M Supertnt I would think it would be the latest, or should I say hope. However given the inability to even send them email today I don't even know if I want to but from them.
So I'm thinking of dipping my toe in the water and buying the cheaper 845b from Sophia electric. The only reason I had supertnt in mind was that I read on their site that they their quality control process has them going to the factory and sifting through the best ones. I guess it is a question of, does one trust everything one reads.
Follow Ups:
Some years ago I upgraded from the stock Chinese 845s to a pair of 845Bs, and later ordered some of the first 845Ms from SuperTNT. One arrived broken and was replaced quickly, but I was never really blown away by them, sold them, and went back to the "Bs". Later I bought a pair of 845Cs from Sophia Electric, liked their sound very much, but was put off by the fact that they fit so tightly into my tube sockets that I feared never being able to get them out! Then one went bad, and I got a new pair from Sophia. Yep, I was able to get the old ones out. The new ones have different bases (copper rather than titanium-colored) and they fit just fine. They also sound distinctly better, IMO, to the point where I just picked up another pair as back-ups. "Pick up" is literal in my case, since Sophia is within easy driving distance. Good luck, Dave
I think I will contact Sophia tomorrow to see what exactly is the metal plate 845 they currently carry. I can not really tell by looking at the picture. It does not look like it has a copper base that you describe.
After searching I could not find much in the way of reviews on the 3rd generation of the 845m which I believe is exclusive to Supertnt. It sounds like your experience with it was an earlier generation 845m.
Yes, my experience was with the first 845Ms. The Sophia pic shows the titantium-colored base, the one I mentioned that was a tight fit into the socket.
