While I have little doubt the Siemens tube sounds dandy, you are going to get indigestion when you see the price.Prices for good sounding NOS 6DJ8 family tubes have long since past the stratospheric level. In current production, only the JJ E88CC and the EH 6922 are worth bothering with. The JJ is voiced more like W. European NOS than the Russian tube is, but the Russian tube is quieter. In a unit with phono and line, EHs in the phono and JJs in the line makes considerable sense. If you have only line, use JJ.
AA sponsor Jim McShane charges $19.95 for matched pairs of JJ E88CCs.

Thank you Eli, Yes stratospheric. I'm wondering about the Jan Sylvania 6922 at $34.95 ea + $4 for matching the pair, one site says a good hifi tube. I'm also using an original Musical Fidelity X-Cans headphone amp, and I think those are 6922's also. A good tube for the line AudioNote pre good for the X-Cans, too?
IMO, the JJ sounds better than Philips JAN, which was made in the Sylvania plant. To be fair, when the Sylvania label went on, the equipment was not as badly worn. Still ...Try a single set of JJs in both "boxes". I think you'll like what you hear and get a 2nd set.

Eli is being kind in his description of the Sylvania 6922. They are CRAP tubes. They sound like $hit. Don't waste your money. The JJ is FAR superior sounding.
Thanks, Eli, at the price, I can't go far wrong. I'll consider your advice. J
