There is a lot of information on the European tubes and identifying characteristics available with a little searching. However, very little is available on identifying Japanese tubes.Do any of you know of a good site to aid in identifying Japanese tubes? Also, which Japanese manufacturer used the little green character molded into the base of the glass? Mucho thanks.
Follow Ups:
This is a 6BQ5 tube and the best photo I could manage with my camera.
when you mentioned 'little green character', I was thinking corporate mascot. I was hoping for this:
I have seen Hitachi printed on the base of 6SN7.

Photographing the character isn't going to be easy. However, if nobody is familiar with the manufacturer, I'll give it a go tomorrow in natural light. It's clearly a Japanese character/letter of some sort and not a Matshushita. I'm guessing either a Hitachi or Toshiba.Hell, I may have to photograph it in natural light and with a magnifying glass. I don't believe it to be uncommon as I have a dozen or so tubes with the character in the glass.
then its Hitachi
Toshiba tended to used English script on their tubes
Matsushita printed their tube model inside an Octogon; NEC inside a Diamond
Fujitsu usually used English script; or the word =TEN=
