Hello Bambi B ,
and once more my picture from the "most rarest tube" ? ;-)) in the world , the TFK 5751 with frame grid and gold pins .
Regards , Alexander .P.S.: Are you still interested in the 6201 pinch waist from "Valvo blaue Reihe" ???

AlexK,I think your destiny is to open a tube museum- you have the amazing stuff! I've certainly never seen a Telefunken frame grid, gold pin 5751. I can't see the structure in the picture- is it the same as the Telefunken frame grid ECC803S ? I can only imagine the sound if this the case!
I was surprised and interested that the Sylvania triple mica 5751 to me had some qualities of the Tesla frame grid ECC803S copy of the Telefunken. I discovered this when I bought the Teslas to eventually replace the 8- Telefunken smooth plate ECC83 in my Fisher 800D receiver. But I had also bought all the Sylvanias - less inexpensive tubes than the Teslas then- for the same purpose, so I ended up trying both and comparing them to the original Telefunkens. The frame grid ECC803S versions though are a different sound to the conventional ECC83- a great balance of the ECC83 and ECC88! I repeated the experiment in my microphone preamp (6- ECC83, 2- ECC81) with the same result. It happens too that the Sylvanias and the Tesla are among the quietest ECC83 types, only the Sovtek 12AX7LPS rivals them. I’ve never had a Telefunken ECC803S- and at $400-600 each now I never shall- but if the Tesla copy has a similar sound- I like it very much! It’s the delicacy- refinement of detail and dynamic qualities that I associate with the old Sylvania 5751. Btw, though 5751's are 70% of ECC83 gain, with both the Fisher and the mic preamp, I really couldn’t distinguish much volume difference between the 5751s, Tesla ECC803S, and ECC83.
Thanks very much for showing this one and don't forget the Christmas season is upon us!
The Valvo blue label, pinched waist 6201: Thanks for bringing up this painful subject! I think I've now bid and missed at least 12-15 of these. A couple of times I've bid far over my limit and still missed, once there was a pair in the box and so beautiful I assumed an amazing price and sat back to see them sold for a moderate price. Other times the seller doesn't ship to the US, and so on.
Perhaps it's the collectors' curse, I think we all will have a couple of items- mine are the Valvo blue 6201, Siemens chrome plate ECC82, and 1957 Jaguar XKSS that will always remain out of grasp- elusive and become the stuff of dreams:
Ach, schoenes Valvo, in meinem Augen erstaunlichsten Blau,
Warten, warten.
Nuer warten.Good to hear from you- Happy Holidays!
Cheers,
Hello Bambi B ,
no , no museum , only a small collector in Germany , but I think , I collected the right stuff in the past .
Yes , the structure from the 5751 is the same like the TFK ECC803s , i have had two of this , one I gave away to an other tube collector .
After your posting , I searched for the Siemens chrome plate and I found this two on the picture .
Regards , Alexander .
AlexK,I belive that if I mentioned electric glass shoes made by Telefunken, you would have pairs in all the popular sizes "V36-V44"- and with choice of both gold and steel buckles !
Yes, that Siemens ECC82 (12AU7A) with the shiny plates is a tube that I know only by reputation, and all the comments I have read put this one in it's own category. But, that one is even less often seen now than the famous Valvo Blue series 6201. I've been curious about the chrome plate ECC82 really from "brand loyalty" - I seem to like really everything I've ever tried from Siemens, plus there are also all those positive comments. Out of interest more than need, I bought the late Siemens two mica, single getter support E82CC thinking it would have none of the panache of the triple mica 5814A, but that late E82CC is really quite good!
Out of interest, I also bought recently what must be the last series triple mica Siemens ECC81- marked "12AT7WA". These also have the Adler- Eagle- so they were DE military issue. I thought it's unusual that a tube for the German military would have the American type number- it should be a "6201". Interestingly, it has the splatter shield, and the clearly copper grid posts, but the getter is on a single wire. These are labelled only "Siemens" in the late style block lettering and do not have the "S&H" logo. I'm curious to try these as I've only ever seen the "S&H" triple mica with the double getter supports.
Through my tube collecting over the last 15 years, without really realising it, I became very fond of Sylvania for American tubes and Siemens especially for European tubes. My favourite European ECC83 type is the Siemens 3 mica E83CC, favourite ECC82 is the Siemens triple mica 5814A, and for ECC81- the triple mica Siemens E81CC. Fuer meine Traume: die Welt beruehmtes Valvo von dem Philips, Hamburg "6201"- Legende sagt dass schlechte deutsche Poesie uber sie wurde geschrieben!
It appears I also like triple mica tubes and this has to be from my education in structures- tubes are mechanically behaving objects to a greater degree than we usually think- like minimising consideration of the mechanics of the room in the overall system.
Thanks again for showing us the rare ECC82 bird- those are all hiding in nests now,...
Cheers,
