On Audio Karma I found myself defending the detailed sonic discription of my older system from someone else who never heard it. When I replied, I found they were a moderator & deleted my relies as well. I left and never went back. Never will go back either Jack.
He's been trying to get his new operation going. I guess he's moved to the south side of Chicago but exactly where I don't know. I'm in the south suburbs BTW, and I haven't seen any sign of him around my immediate area - but it is a BIG city!. He has a few items for sale on eBay, but that's it right now.
I always thought he was the owner of Triode and that it was likely a one man operation. Was he an employee only or did he sell the business?
He was a one-man operation until '96 or '97, when he got together with Jim Pacelt of Elite Audio. This was in Roscoe Village on the North side of Chicago. Somewhere along the line Jim disappeared and Ned moved into an old TV repair shop on Irving Park (at Central-I think). He has since moved on and the new owners told me that they do not know where to find him.
This is unfortunate. I really miss Ned the businessman. His shipments were always timely and contained everything ordered. He frequently had helpful suggestions and comments. Not self-serving crap either. It wasn't just to initiate a sale. Hope he's back in business soon.

His new base of operation is tubezone.net

You're probably right that Ned can be found there...but what the heck is UP with that newsgroup? I don't see THAT much pure vitriol posted here on the Outside asylum!
up until a couple years ago I would keep my finger on the pulse over there because there were some good guys like Uncle Ned and Fred Neibacher(Bless his soul). Even Lord Valve had some good stuff to offer when he wasn't on a rant. (or playing high and mighty)
Then a feud began and spilled over into about everything. Add Fred's getting sick and Passing away and it just wasn't worth the time anymore.
A few 'Uncle Neds' are around. These guys usually do not put a priority on making maximum dollars & toss everything else of value out. 'Uncle Ned' types value quality of life more including the work place. If the work environment becomes unrewarding, these Uncle Ned types move on. If Uncle Ned is in good health, all of us should hear from him in a big way in the future. He needs time to regroup.Quiz: What is a rather precise & opposite of a 'Uncle Ned' type? Answere- Realjazzcat types. These guys don't even like themselves inside.
