Yea, I did the grounding changes Jim recommemds in the Level II Plus kit. They are an exercise in patience to accomplish without lifting the circuit boards. Especially the rebinding of the wiring harness. The changes would be easy to accomplish as part of a total rebuild.
Follow Ups:
I was updating the power supply, which would really help. I used a 12 ga. piece of copper wire to create a buss-bar along the caps and soldered everything to it and brought the speaker and bias grounds to a single point on that buss.I never did have to remove the circuit boards, though.
This is, IMHO, one of the overlooked things to do to get more performance out of an already legendary amp.
