Hi,
Well, it finally happened. After 4 years of faithful service, my tubes finally died. I have an AMC CVT2030, 30wpc PP amp with 4 EL34s. If I remember correctly, Svetlana makes a great EL34, but it's been a while since I checked. Any recomendations? Thanks in advance.

Please try out the new JJ KT77. Out of all new production tubes, these steal the show hands down. I know have these for the last 2 months running on a Marantz 8B and Marantz 9 and the sound is simply musical, powerful and as clean as you can get. The bass is the best I have exprienced.I have the full range of NOS EL34's at disposal, and the JJ KT77 are in comparison absolute a steal. Yes, the metal EL34's on the 9 are still unmatched, but the JJ's get really close. Same applies to Telefunkens, at par with Mullards (Xf1 included). Better than Phillips DD in my humble "biased" opnion.
Very stable bias, like a true Mullard (almost all new production tubes are suffering from too much float in the bias)
Best to be ordered from Bob at Eurotubes (somebody is selling these on ebay for much more than Bob)
I'm thinking about trying the JJ KT77's in my model 9's. Did you set to pentode or triode?
In my Ars Sonum Filarmonia I prefer the JJ E34L over Svetlana.
Ramallo,Have you had a chance to swap out any NOS EI88CC's or 7308, CCa's in the Filarmonia? Curious since I have a Filarmonia coming soon.....

You are going to get all the answers under the sun. Svet, Sovtek, and JJ being the most prominent, not necessarily in that order.
the best are the Mullard Philips EL 34. Svetlana Winged C are very good .. Made in St Petersburg by an american who took over from Svet. but like the older Winged more then the new ones. Definitely a difference. The more black of colour inside the tube mostly better sound. New Winged are grey older ones black. Grey is a cheaper alloy and less refined of soundquality With the EL 34 use the best coupling capacitors there are.Very nice upgrade and simple.
. black of the plates of course.See the new Svets. 5u4g on ebay .... all grey plates. See the old Svets 5c3/5u4. All black plates.
has changed - the are now referred to as SED and they have a 'winged' C in the logo, not a big S. They are still an excellent new production tube.
I strongly suggest that you buy only the "Winged C" real Svetlanas. The other "Svetlanas" are not so good and the ones I got a year ago suffer from low transconductance - about 8,500 uA/v instead of 11,000
into my rebuilt ST70. I much prefer them over any other current production EL34, and I've tried several brands...
