C 10I don't know exactly what a "Dimpled Getter" is - but I think that would be a good name for what I am looking at.
Does that help narrow it down?
I ask, because I have been offered some Amperex PQ's and if these are Amperex's anyway, I will pass on the offer.Is there anywhere to test the tubes? I am in L.A. CA. I am sure there is someplace.
Thanks,
Rick
Follow Ups:
Amperex never made 6DJ8/ECC88 types labeled PQ. That was reserved for the premium 6922/E88CC only.
Yes, I know.
I should have said I was offered Amperex 6922 PQ's. I bought RCA 6DJ8's.
Rick,Well, the "B6G1" tells the story and these were made in 1971 at the Mullard Blackburn factory. These would be the same as the plain Amperex orange globe of the same year, and should be quite OK sounding.
The Amperex PQ, if they have a halo getter and are earlier Heerlen tubes, though will be slightly, but noticeably better. Perhaps you can use a couple of PQ for the first position or phono tubes and the dimpled disc ones down the line a bit.
As for tube testing L.A., I really don't know where to do it. I live in Woodland Hills, and if I could trust my EICO 666 tester, you'd be welcome to use it, however, it has a quirk and the the same tube can measure wildly differently. I think there's an intermmitent weak capacitor. You might call the boutiques that sell tube gear- Brooks Berdan, Upscale Audio < and they sell tubes too, and ask for suggestions.

GA= 6DJ8
0= Revision 0
B= Blackburn factory
6G= July 1976
1= 1st week of JulyIn the Amperex code scheme, the 6 could also be 1966 or 1956 however, the dimple getter with A frame first appeared in the 70s.
I do not think it could be 56 or 66 as the 4 digit code did not come in until the mid 60's. That is what I have been told so 76 more than likely.
