I was just given one of these by a friend and it seems in good working order.Does this unit do a good job compared to what is availabe today? Does it have any resale value?
Follow Ups:
they were made throughout the 1970s. the 'B' indicates that it was the latest version with a reset switch in case of a shorted tube.a dissenting opinion - imo many consider the 747B line of testers to be one of the better testers out there. just behind the tv-7 line of testers and maybe the superlative hickok 6000/534 testers.
solid state reliability coupled (you may need to replace the old electrolytics though) with a much more sensitive shorts/leakage test than the hickok testers plus an extremely easy-to-use interface makes for a good tester imo. the 747 is also EXTREMELY easy to calibrate.
The vintage Hickok transconductance testers are considered best quality. The B&K 747B is an ok tester. I guess it was introduced some time around the mid 1960s. Go to eBay & look up latest prices of the 747B sales.
Oh I forgot. When were these made?
