Hi all,
My cayin a88-t made a little thump noise in speaker when I switch the power on (it has a delay switch). Is this normal? Does Anybody who own cayin a88-t has this problem also?
Follow Ups:
I just bought the same amp about a couple of weeks back so my experience with it is limited. In my case, there is no thump when I press the power switch and the unit goes into stanby (mute/pre-heat) mode. There is a slight 'click' sound from the speakers when the unit goes off the standby mode and is ready to play.
Is the thump right at the beginning when you press the power switch? In that case, suggest you get it checked out.
The sound is after the standby mode. Maybe is not a thump but it's not a slight click also. I think I'm gonnna bring to the dealer to have it check.
By the way have tried any tube rolling on your a88-t?
No. Not yet. Don't know which tube will match with this amp? Quite happy with the sound of the stock tubes as of now. What about you?
I've changed the stock 6sn7 with rca 6sn7 gtb also kt88 changed to svetlana 6550c. the sound is more open on mid and high. The bass is more controled.
I think I like the sound better with this combination.
I don't know? any suggestion? I'm quiet new to tube amp.byg.
Just like you, I am new too in tube amps so I don't know which tubes will be the best for this amp. I believe the Svetlana 6550s are better that the K88Ts but have no first hand experience however. If it sounds better than that is the way to go.
I do not want to roll any tubes till the amp is in the guarantee period. I will probably do that once the period elapses. Since how long have you owned this amp? What speakers and source do you have?
I am also concerned about the servicing of the amp - particularly regarding cleaning the tube pins and socket - as my environment is quite dusty. What do you do for this?
Did you check out about the thump problem. I heard my amp yesterday and there is definitely a very soft but thight thump instead of a click that I mentioned earlier. So I guess this is normal.
I've check the amp and tried 2 other a88-t at the dealer. They all have similar problem. They said it is normal, I hope it's true.
I haven't clean the pin & sockets yet. I own this amp for about 3 weeks.system for my a88-t:
cd: Arcam cd73t
spk: Triangle Comette es
interconnect: Kimber Silverstreak
spk cbl: Kimber 8tc
