In my opinon, you have to think about everything in the circuit before started.Unlike the bloody 6l6,KT88 were designed under well developed valve technology.
Disagree?I will show you a photo of those burnt KT88s in the corner.
Follow Ups:
They were the V/T of choice for the motor drive oscillator.
Hi,Is there a source online for your schematic for a motor controller (tube) ?
I've noticed there is a Brinkmann TT controller that is tube, and there used to be a Uk one... Tron, or something....
But is there a Diy tube controller ?
Thanks for any info or lead...
One of the good intentions with which my particular road to hell is paved is that of getting a website up so I can publish some of the more interesting schematics on it.
I believe you are wrong about the KT88. If you are claiming it is not possible to build an amp around them, I am going to question your research...there are few valves that carry the 'Indestructable' tag and surely the KT88 is easy enough to wreck. It is also fairly easy to take proper care of.

Hello ,
Nah ! I've heard Rogue and Leak amps that use these no problem . Either you're using substandard valves or an amp over-running the valves . Check your bias , buy decent quality new valves or get rid of the amp , simple as that

Tried to email you but it says you don't accept unsolicited email re: Mullard 12au7's. Thanks.
Thanks :)
