In Reply to: Jadis Orchestra or Orchestra Reference? posted by conscious on September 09, 2003 at 07:39:59:
I ahve used an Orcheatra since its introduction and as a result tow opf my friends have also got one. Absolutely faultless running during this time. I also know from my dealer (who is a sort of a friend) that they have never had any back with any faults.i hope this puts your mind to rest on this matter...additionally, i had the Reference version, indeed I could have had it as a straight exchange from my (friend ) the hif fi dealer as payment for a favour that i did him but having listened to it for two or three weeks I actually preferred the Basic version orcheatra, and since found out that I was not the only one to have that opinion!
Take care

Thanks very much for the reply. It's good to hear that you had a good experience with your amp. BTW, have you had to change any tubes yet? If so have you tried any different tubes? I understand that the reference uses tubes that many prefer, but I wonder if they are compatible with regular orchestra. Thanks again for your input.
the reference uses KT90 tubes and these are not interchangable with the orchestra's EL34....and visa versa.I have changed the tubes and reset the bias on one amp and used JJTesla EL34L. No major change in fact though there was an increase in the bass control and the top was extended somewhat. They were changed.....well.....*Just because*!!!!!!!
Hi Derek,May I ask how you re-biased your Orchestra? I've got an Orchestra too and I'm looking at changing the tubes soon.
