Any tips on reducing noise other than the standard tricks?
Hiss, Humm, Radio Pickup?
Follow Ups:
I've seen a couple of mini-phono's. The hiss comes from the tubes. If you have one with the EI tubes in it, get rid of them. As for hum and radio pick-up, there could be a ground wire off. They have very little residual hum normaly.
Not being a tube expert (yet :> ) what would I swap in for less hiss? The hum:
It seems all too happy to pass on 60Hz AC to the DC line at high gain. I tried putting a ground defeat plug in - no difference.
I have a PS Audio P600 power supply that can generate wave patterns other than 60Hz and all get passed at high gain. Would putting in a dedicated ground for PS Audio help? Probably not.
What would be the best way to get rid of this completely?
JJ 12AX7's work very well in these preamps. They may also cut some of the hum I've found. Lifting the ground to the AC doesn't work. I suspect a ground wire off internally.
Parallel a 47P at input can reduce RF Interference. New version already add it.
