I was cranking some tunes tonight while in another room when I heard a loud crashes and the sound of breaking glass then silence...
The vibration must have moved the Jolida 202 off the shelf to the floor..
Casualties (1) 5751, and (1) 12ax7 & (1) El34 had it's guide pin snapped off but the vacuum looks intact.
Well it's back to the Tubeman I guess.
I had the Cryo'd JAN GE 5751's and Svetlana 12ax7's.
I think I'll stay with the 5751's and move up to the Cryo'd Jan Philips 12ax7's.
I powered the unit up without the broken tubes in and it looked fine.
Could have been worse, but the noise was what nightmares are made of.

Follow Ups:
I have used Sovtek, RCA, and GE. The JJ 12ax7 gave the best balanced presentation of the bunch. I am using them with Svetlana EL34 and the mids really shine. I think the JJ have a certain synergy with the Jolida amps.
What do you recommend in the Jolida because the Cryo'd ECG JAN Philips 12AT7 are not the answer. After my JD202 passed the 170 hr mark, most of the warmth disappeared, now all of it is gone.
I was planning to replace all the coupling caps with Jensen PIO, and now I definetly have to soon. It actually sounds SS. It has speed, articulation, details and imagery but no involvement - no warmth - no life - no you are there or they are here.
JJ, EI, Svetlana or EH 12AT7's?
Thanks

I've read that the JAN Philips has a little more richness than the JJ's.
I'd like that, my amp sounded a little dry in the midrange.
The Jolida sounded great (nice warm sound - great for jazz) until about 150 hrs of break-in then it got faster and drier in the midrange.
I am also thinking of replacing the Musicaps with Jensen Copper PIO.
Any Comment.
Thanks

About two or three years ago I ordered a set of 12AX7's from Audio by VanAlstine for a Super PAS 4i. What I got in the mail was two matched pair of JAN Phillips 12AX7's - one pair of high gain balanced tubes for the phono section, the other pair with less gain and not as tightly balanced for the line section.I didn't like these tubes very much and swapped them out about 4 to 6 months later. I subsequently gave them to a friend to try, and he gave them back!!! I even tried them in my Fender Blues Jr. guitar amp - didn't like them there either. I find it hard to believe that this tube receives all the great "press" that it does.
"Phono" pair currently measures 99/103 and 102/100. "Line" pair measures 89/99 and 93/101 on a B&K 747 tester.
If you would like to try this tube in your equipment, I'll send them to you for free - you pay shipping!!!! Send me an email.
"I've read that the JAN Philips has a little more richness than the JJ's"
Despite what you've read, the JAN Philips might not result in a richer sound from your equipment than with the JJ. One thing I've learned is that a tube's "sound" is often dependent on the equipment it is installed in.
Bummer----I hate it when that happens
