still registered as "private users" upgrading your status to what it should be? I realize that some of you are AA "contributors", but so what?

I don't mind changing my status, but where does one draw the line? I don't sell tubes for a living, only as a hobby. It's grown into a website with inventory since I enjoy it so much, and yes it provides me some marginal profit so that I can buy more equipment without the spousal hassles of using the "family fund" for my hobby. I run an internet company as my main source of revenue, so do I qualify as a dealer or a hobbyist?
If I were to list a major portion of my personal tube collection for sale (approx. 150 desirable tubes) I would consider this to be @ the hobbyist level considering that the tubes were not originally purchased with the intent of reselling them.I recently mailed 6 tubes to a guy asking $20 (including shipping) for the batch if they worked out, otherwise they can be returned with a reimbursement for my shipping cost. Again, this is @ a hobbyist level, IMO, and I have previously sold less than half a dozen tubes in the past 5 years (traded many more than this).
The people I am referring to are obviously purchasing large lots/collections of tubes for resale on a consistent basis and even though it is likely that this is not their only source of income I would still classify them as industry professionals/dealers. They are pretty hard to miss if one surfs Ebay & A'Gon.
I consider "P" and "D" icons to be an added plus granted that the poster's comments (info/humor) also offer value to the forums (lots of excellent advice here @ AA from people carrying these icons).
Why, what's the upside to your suggestion?--Bob

offer industry professionals, @ the very least, a warm/fuzzy feeling inside. However as to why certain individuals would avoid such a bonus is certainly an interesting topic for open discussion.Kidding aside I can understand why some would prefer to not to carry a "P" (or whatever it is) icon as it singles one out from the crowd, but on the otherhand there are sound/obvious reasons for dealers to register as such.
Anyway, the info contained in the following link is good enough reason I would think.
Dealers are required to register as dealers IAW the rules--I suppose there are a few here who consider it an upside that the rules be adhered to.
