Gee, I just love it when I can aggrevate you, Claud.
If you can wait, I'll give you a beautifully matched pair of Tele 12AX7s. If you can't wait, I'll send them to you. How's THAT for service. Just one of the perks of being a member of the Carolina Audiophile Society. :)
Follow Ups:
OH great Prez, what am I supposed to be holding? Just kidding! If you are willing to loan me the pair of tels, THANKS. What a guy!! Yes I can wait for the system crawl weekend. I think I can show up since my fishing buddies went home on Saturday last year (US Open King Mack Tourney is OCT 3, 4).If we make the board (in the money), all bets are off.
What I really want to know is if you tried them in the Six Packs? I want them for the same purpose. Changes in 12BZ7s are as Dennis would say, subtle. What did the supposed king of 12AX7s do?
I also want a rematch with my 308t vs the SACD machine. You would not believe what a change in cords has wrought.
I would hate to miss the system crawl, but it all comes down to fish.
I've not yet done any tube rolling with the SixPacs. However, I may do so this weekend. Also, if you like the Teles in your amps you can just keep them, not borrow them. I guess I'm in a good mood tonight. I'm wondering though, if the circuit runs the 12AX7s hard compared to the 12BZ7s. I hate to overwork Tele 12AX7s. Any idea if putting 12AX7s in the circuit is a problem for the tube?
"news on Cary site says 12AY7s, 12AX7s and 12BZ7s are interchangable. Cary doesn't run any tube hard that I'm aware of. Please try them in place of the 12BZ7s, and let me know what it sounds like. They would be my first choice for tube rolling the 6pks. You may change your mind about giving them to me. That's cool. Then I will know if they are an improvement.
Either way, I still want two mo pair of BB/Amperex early 60s , late 50s, 7316s. I only have three pair, and they ain't makin' any more.
Yo Kevin.......
