Looking for opinions/reccomendations. I will be building my son a Stereo tube amp and need to keep the cost to under $250. I really like the sound of 6SN7s, but as you all know 'good' 6SN7s are becoming very expensive. So, given that I can't spend more than $10 per 6SN7, am I better off with NOS RCA 6SN7GTBs (these are the ugly 'coin based' tubes, generally available for about $10 apiece NOS on Ebay) or new 6SN7GTs (Sovtek or 'China', about $8 apiece at Antique Electronic Supply)?
Follow Ups:
Go with the vintage stuff. Email me if you need info on where to find vintage 6SN7 for $10/ea. or less, and non-coin-base types. (most 1950s-60s types)
Get the EH 6SN7's. Not a bad tube at all for @ $10.
I agree. The EH6SN7 tubes are really nice.
