So...with a lot of reluctance I finally sent the FisherDoc a note today that If they did not send me a tracking number or refund the money to my paypal account in a week, that I would take the time to file mail fraud charges. In the limited communications I have had with them, they have made NO sincere attempt to even look into this order. Each time I e-mail they respond with....."We're looking into it." etc. But 2-3 weeks will go by and I never get a return e-mail with any info. Then I send another e-mail referencing the previous and asking for an update on my order. Then I get ANOTHER e-mail saying. "we'll look into it". etc. So...finally I said enough.
Personally I don't care if you are old, busy, socially recalcitrant etc. (dead is about the only excuse that would work for me on this one) If you take my money, I feel you have OBLIGATED yourself to provide me with both information and service. Otherwise....don't take my money.
This is posted because it doesn't matter whether they actually follow through and refund my money or send my order. The damage is long done and others deserve fair warning that this is the type of attrocious lack of service and blatant disregard for others time and efforts they can expect when dealing with the (infamous?) FisherDoc.
There are others on this board that have e-mailed me that they have had similiar experiences, but this one was mine, so I figured I'd share it.

Ask for Bill T, he works on all my vintage gear and is as good as they come....
If Bill T. was employee #3 and engineering director at CJ for 20 years. I've only had him do my CJ gear and he is beyond reproach.
FisherDoc does have some supporters, at the Asylum. His kits are supposed to be nice; his work as well. There is a poster here, who claims the Doc to be his good friend. He always defends him, giving excuses for his poor service.I think it is great, that he has young children. It is also great that he has a full-time job as a letter carrier. This is not our problem.
Once upon a time, I had ordered a kit from him. Then I waited. And waited. And... The only reason that I got my money back, is because I rang his bell one Sunday evening. It was worth the toll, and gas, to personally get the refund. Most of his clients do not have this luxury. If you happen to find yourself in Staten Island, bring a very good map.
Did you know that Avery Fisher's daughter has a court injunction against Al, for his use of the Fisher name? A good friend of mine is a good friend of hers, and when I mentioned my Fisher Doc problems to him, this information was revealed. Ms Fisher's legal issue has yet to be resolved.
In the future, you might want to deal with someone more reliable, such as BizzyBee. Or, use your own judgement, and assemble your own 'kit'.
That doesn't suprise me. The Fisher Doc had my tube preamp for 18 months before I finally got it back. I heard the same sob story: kids, job, sick grandmother or whatever. I was promised a 2 week turnaround time. It was closer to 2 years. There is no way I would ever use his repair service or buy anything from this guy again.
