It must be rare to very rare - I never see them, but I do have two matched pairs and one spare. I'm at a loss what to do with them since I don't have anything that could use them. They're supposed to be very good. No doubt the Japanese fancy them - they must be truly underground.
Follow Ups:
Hi,If memory serves me those are more or less equivalent with 6L6 (or is that EL33? or both? and EL39 as well?)
EL37 ain't really the same as 6L6 but rather a intermediate beast btw. 6L6 and EL34.
6L6 and KT66 should be fairly equal at low frequencies.
If one needs 6L6G/KT66 I should trade my EL35 for a couple of KT66 :-)
(I guess EL35 is like 350B - more sought after then worth so to say. Guess that is though!)
found this:
"Mullard EL35 - Mullard's equivalent for the KT66 - these were not made for very long as they were superceded first by the EL37 and latterly the EL34. Many affectionados prefer the sound of this beam tetrode which has only slightly lower ratings than GECs KT66 and some say a smoother sound"
I looked up my AVO valve manual and it is strikingly close to the KT66 in specs - looks interchangeable. Haven't checked the max ratings, though. Very nice tube - definitely rare! Andy
Hi ,
I always thought the EL35 was similar to the 4654/EL50 but on an octal base . Probably sounds very nice :)cheers
