I have wired my Edison 60 in PSE triode mode with EL34 valves. I understand that you can run this amplifier with 300B`s also, and I would like to try this option. The trouble is that I can`t read schematics and I know next to nothing about valve theories. The question is: do I have to take the time to learn all this to be able to read the schematic on Thorsten Loesch` website, or could somebody explain in simple terms which components I have to change on the PCB`s and the PSU (I have one input transformer). I take it I have to change sockets for the 300B`s too, and need to know how to wire them.
Any input on this will be appreciated.Ps: Will this conversion make any change in the amount of hum/noise?

Hi,> I understand that you can run this amplifier with 300B`s also,
You can, but the conversion is considerably more involved than just to change a few components.

Depends, if you use AC Filaments the hum will be a little higher. With DC Filaments and due to the added choke filtering in the PSU the hum will be much less.
Ciao T
You are right of course, telling me to learn the theory so I can understand what I am doing. My intention is to get a better understanding of amplifier designs and valve theory. With kits you don`t need much of that. I understand that my Edison isn`t suitable for 300B`s, so I think I leave it for now and consentrate on my speaker kit (Hammer Dynamics) arriving (hopefully) any day now. I`m a bit conserned that the small amount of hum in the Edison wil be a problem with a 97db loudspeaker. It may be a better solution to try one of the 300B kits that is offered all over internet. Well, it`s Christmas soon.Thank you for your answer.
