Has anybody used the Eimac "twin 30"? I just came across this
tube while searching for Eimac info.It appears to be a lower voltage/current, double triode, version
of the 35T.(more or less)Cool looking tube, I would love to experiment with one if only
I could find some:(Anyways, comments anyone?

Cal, hi. The Twin 30 is certainly frankenstein-ish, but the mu is quite high. Great for Class B operation with zero bias on the grids. Probably meant for RF service. If you are looking at EIMAC for audio I'd concentrate on the TL versions of what they made - 75TL being one example. Or, if you are delving into Class B I'd take a look at the 838 and if you are more into electrode caps (on the neck of Boris Karloff as the Monster) you might favor the 810. Have fun!
Hi elektron.
Actually I was thinking more along the lines of useing them for
driver tubes, much like the 25T & 35T have been used by others
who frequent this forum.I have an ever growing stash of transmitting triodes. Including
several 304TL's. Just looking for different tubes and ideas on
how to use them.
That is a wild looking and interesting tube but forget about finding any. They just aren't out there. I am all about building amps with crazy rare tubes, but even these are something I Would not consider trying. They make the 75TL and 75TH look absolutely common-as-dirt-6SN7-ish by comparison. ;-) 25T is a great choice, probably second only to 75TH (shhhh!) as a driver tube. Many versions of 25T/3C24 exist, they were made by at least 5-8 companies, some with graphite plates, most with metal. 35T is I think going to be harder to use for audio. THe best choices are as mentioned, the lower mu stuff. (low is a relative term when talking eimac). 25T, 75TL/TH, 100TL (maybe TH), 250TL, etc. If you want an interesting rare one try 152TL, it's like half a 304TL or 2 x 75TL in one bottle. Dowdylama has played with most of these and could easily opine in more detail I am sure.
I had a feeling the "twin 30" would be impossible to find, a guy
can dream can't he?The 152TL is certainly a nice looking tube but yikes a little out of
my price range.I guess i'll stick to the 25T/3C24 for now, at least they are cheap.
I do have a couple of 127A's stashed away though, I might have to
play around with them a little bit.
