Mated with Altec 902, with high XO points and without treble boost.
It sounded absolutely terrible to me.I haven't done much with compression drivers or speakers at all, so don't read too much into it.
I'm not trying that specific combo again for sure.
If you like dynamics and have one of the beefier 1" drivers such as JBL2420 , these should be ideal . The price is good . You may need a supertweet though
Thanks FB.
I will give em a try.
It looks like one with a 2" or 1.4" entry would be better. I can't think of any 1" exit driver that will run anywhere near that low. Even the JBL mentioned shouldn't be run under 800 hertz.Don't overlook some of the new off the shelf constant directivity horns from DDS (eng 1-90) and 18sound (xt1086). The DDS is 2" entry and will go down to 1khz, the 18sound is a 1" entry and should be crossed at 1200 or above.
I use the 18sound and like it FWIW.
The DDS ENG 1-90 is a 1" entry waveguide that can be ordered as screw in or bolt on. I have a pair of the bolt ons.

All my horn drivers are 1 inch so can I put an adapter plate on to make it work with a 2 inch or 1.4 inch entry?
No, that wouldn't be a good idea. My point was why spend that much money on a horn that can run down that low only to mount a driver, that at best, needs to be crossed over a couple of octaves higher. For a 1" driver I'd encourage you to try the 18sound XT1086. You will need a CD "compensation" circuit though which is basically a padding resistor bypassed by a cap. Values would depend upon your driver which you didn't mention.

P.S. Their little horn, the XT120, is very cheap and not bad at all if you are just looking to try horns for the first time and don't wish to invest.
Pah , piddly things ! I'd like see see one of these waveguides witha 15" or so diameter . Running the driver near Fs , rather than horn cutoff should be ok with a comp driver . Excursion is your enemy if running a puny small format 1" driver anywhere near the cutoff of these horns , I'd at least double the cutoff even for the 2420 . Cone drivers with their higher xmax would probably be ok run down to the horn cutoff , but whats the point ? It would be better going 'up' a size instead . Currently running my 340hz Azura/Tad TD4001 with 2nd order 650Hz crossover for example . Anything lower than that and I'd have to buy a pair of 204Hz Azura and bolt my 6.5" PR65neo's on .
