heated up...you have some rather weird wiring going on.We would need a lot more info to correctly help you sort this out. Did you build it EXACTLY as the designer said to?

Here is a link to the amplifier schematic.

If you hadn't,your EL34s would be melted!
He actually posted a correction to the schematic for that. Thanks.

Maybe it's just me but it looks like an error or I don't get it.
That is an error. It is tied to the 100 ohm resistor at the other cathode. Made me look a few times also!!!

Can you take out the pot and the 47K input resistor?
Just run the the input to the grid stopper and the input ground to ground...John
How then do I implement volume control? Thanks for looking.
JIm
Yes it is a tube amp and I did build it exactly as the schematic reads.
Thanks,
Jim
...pretty much impossible to sort out without being able to see the amp itself. But somehow you must have 60Hz AC gertting directly into the speaker circuit.
Was it a kit, and if a kit, did it come with a wiring diagram to follow?
It wasn't a kit. I built it from the schematic that I posted a link to above. Thanks for your interest .
