I'm trying to determine the feasibility of modifyng a Sun SV-300B in amp to accept 45 tubes. Does anyone know what the output trans. (Tamura SOT525) impedance is? If its 3500 ohms or higher, then wouldn't it be possible to use 45 types with only minor modification? Change cathode resistor by 1.5K I would love to hear a 45. It sounds better than the 300B IMHO. Thanks in advance for any advice and suggestions. Martin

You may lower the plate voltage a little bit.

Thanks Hagustus, I think 270V or 250 V for the plate voltage, and 35Mamp are the correct ones. The 45 has a 2.5 V filament and 1.5 Amp while the 300B has a 5 volt filament. My doubt is about OPT 3.5K primary in contrast to the 5K required by the 45. What do you think about this?, Best Regards, Martin
MartinA 3.9K OPT is recommended for your
operating point so 3.5K is close.
You'll get ~ 1.8 watts out.
See the attached link for
more information.
Loadline shown is very close to yours.DanL
