Hi, all, got an amp (dukane 1A435) using a 5U4, inpput cap is a 16mfd @600v to the opt and to the cathode of the OD3 regulator for the screens, the preamp and phase splitter having a 20/20 ufd through a dropper... since the 5U4 can handel up to 40 mfd, can I up the capacitance of the plate capacitance, I am expecting that I can as well to the screen/phase splittersince it is after the first cap... thanks
Follow Ups:
You should be OK with the 40uF input cap. Just be careful to check the plate supply impedance. The DC ohms should suffice. If it is too low the charging current will be too high. The limit is 30 ohms for 600 volts AC (~300 VDC) and 50 ohms for 800 volts AC (~400 VDC). You can add a small resistor in series with the plates if necessary.Using a cap after the OD3 can be a problem. If I recall correctly the recommended maximum capacitance is 0.1 uF.
.
thanks!
