Hi All, I normally do not post in this forum, but I was looking for an inexpensive tube amp for my daughters dorm room and found this on eBay. Does anyone know about these? Thanks in advance for any help you can give. Cheers.

If you aren't interested in building it yourself, I'll acquire it, assemble it (repalcing old/dried/leaky caps as needed), and deliver it to you for $500.Or maybe a pair of used original Bottlehead Paramours configured as a stereo unit with added input selector and volume control.
Or maybe a scratch built push-pul el84 integrated amp (with no tone controls).
The visual aesthetics on these are not outstanding, but the sound is (in the price range). And the only warantee would be a promise from as stranger (me) to fix any failures originating within the equipment. This is simply my hobby, but my wife won't let me keep filling the house with more completed projects.

Hi,
For $400 or so bucks, I think it would be hard to even scratch build an amp like this. I scratch built a DIYTube push pull EL-84 amp a couple years back, and spent about the same amount. It was time consuming,(but fun), and it wasn't nearly as pretty as the one your interested in. The amp I built sounded very good, and I would reccomend it to anyone as a low power, excellent sounding tube amp.
Make sure your Daughters speakers are efficient enough. 90DB/1W/1M or better should be fine for the Dorm.

I have no clue about the quality but 200 AUD just to ship it to the US should hopefully put it into perspective.
Thanks for pointing that out. I didn't even notice. He has to be making at least $100.00 on shipping. Cheers.
I hate to sound like a skipping record but: are you adverse to fixing up a vintage amp? If you watch eBay or Craigslist like a hawk you could well find a decent amp by Heathkit, Scott, Fisher, Pilot, HP, Dynaco (duh) or another of those brands that you can get working again.
