obviously the first clip lead wasn't grey sounding or the experiment would have ended there. From reading your post, you had stock wiring, and bypassed it with a clip lead and noted an improvement. You then attributed the improvement to the increase of wire area so you proceed along that line. After the "fix" is installed another clip lead jumper still improves the sound.
this makes me see a red flag in the methodology. Don't get me wrong, I have heard drastic changes before and when later revisiting the situation i found the changes were due more to my excitement in wanting a change rather than anything i could consistantly replicate.

Follow Ups:
Dave,Nahh, no sir, I carefully went back AND forth, both adding AND removing clip leads, and my methodology was honest.
But when I got rid of even one clip lead on my bundle of 3,4,5,or 6 wires, and had TCSS ALONE soldered, it was far better, purer sounding. The paralleled clip leads just pointed out the need for "mo' wire needed", but the quality, with just ONE clip lead in as part of any bunch, was compromised Dave, sorry.
Hey the point isn't if clip leads are acceptable, ( they ARE NOT at all, to me from what I just heard ), but the real topic is the need for perhaps 10 A. internal wiring , in "critical" audio paths, drawing 1 mA quiescent, to capture the MOST musical information, without degrade in instantaneous peak audio playback dynamics !!!. Thats the big news here Dave.
Respectfully,
Don't go dissin' the humble clip lead in Dave's presence.....he is "Mr Clip Lead" and will change into his "Super Clip Lead" suit and come & getcha!I remember with a shudder an amp he presented at NY Noise 2000 - it must have had 100 clip leads and over 1000V B+...don't think there was one normal wire or a soldered joint in it!
And it ran!
Thats OK Allen,Dave Slagle is as good as it gets, hard working and honest and loved by me and many others. Let him use clip leads !!
Maybe we two need to introduce him to Bannana Plugs also. :-)
... like Dave, I wonder about your methodology and conclusions. This because I have never ever found multiple wiring to be a good thing. In fact, multiple anythings IMHO are never "better" than a single good thing. Note the use of single "good thing".If you need multiple things, then my first question these days is why? Adding multiple things IME is most often a band aid to another issue. My choice is to find the other issue than to apply the band aid.
One thing we do have in common though is the use of Kimber TCSS for PSU hookup :-)
Hi StephenR,Your input was appreciated. I see you built your own preamp, but use a Ear 509 amp on Tannoys in your main system. Had you been building your own amps on an ongoing and extensive basis, I believe you may develop a different set of wire-use experiences.
In a SE amp, for example, a single run of TCSS for ground will not cut the mustard - at all. Maybe a single run of Kimber TCX night do OKish, ( which is THREE TCSS runs in one bundle...15 gauge rather than 19 gauge.)
A 12 gauge lead of high quality would outperform TCX , however, that Siltec 12 gauge silver wire is COSTLY, and beyond my financial reach. Dennis uses lots of it in his SEer product I believe,
Cheers,
You have no idea about what amps I have experience with, nor for how long, only what I've published on my site. I've been down the road you advocate in this thread and I'm not sure you have it totally right.
