I read 2.7vac filaments on a pair of 45 tubes wired in parallel on a 2.5v 3A transformer. When I series a .1 ohm 10w resistor the voltage drops to 2.5v but it introduces hum. It's dead quiet at 2.7v. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hello Les,I don't know your schematic, but it you are using a filament transformer with a center tap and the tap is either grounded or connected to your cathode resistor, then it may be that the 0.1 ohm resistor is unbalancing the filament. Try .1 in each filament leg from the transformer.
Oh yes, that makes sense.
Use two 0.047, one either side.
Thanks guys !
