Thanks for the excellent link. Sounds like the only thing that might be a bit better would be the Jupiters and it is probably a toss up. I think it might get a bit hot near the 6H30 for jupiters... Maybe Auricaps are about as good as this player will get...
Couple of thingsI think the suggestions from others to try bypassing a good one.
The Jupiters are physically very large, so they very likely won't fit if space is constrained at all. Also, some people really hate them. I'm not sure why, so I stand by my opinion, but it is a source of disagreement.
There are lots of caps I have not heard. The page is my impression of mostly cheap caps, so the auricaps are bound to be on the top of my list. That said, I do think the auricaps are pretty good value for money. The proable next jump in quality would be something like a jensen paper in oil. Other things similar to auricaps and in the same price range would be dynamicaps (a little more expensive), sonicaps (a little cheaper), and maybe something from Mundorf -- they seem to be all the rage lately.
Hi
Thanks for the note. I don't really think Jupiters are a good idea since there may be serious heat issues inside that case. Bypassing is certainly a interesting option. Those teflons recommended above are pretty pricey, but maybe worth a try. Ever try any of the little Russian PIO's floating around? K40's I think. They are about $20 for 20 of them on ebay. There are 4 of them bypassing coupling caps in my power amp. The guy who built the amp likes them. Do you have any experience with them?
Lots of people like them -- a quick search will show that. I've only tried them once and found I like Vitamin Q's better, but the Russian teflons were probably a bit cleaner.
